The Art of Ferres

I came across Kendrick Lim and his art gets two thumbs up from me. As it happens, most of his art isn't really fetish themed - but this particular piece (click any picture below to get a full size image) is a sexy fusion of sci-fi and BDSM.

The above picture also definitely reminds me of the adult comic artist Ferres. An image of hobbled women being pulled along by leads attached to what I assume are rings piercing the labia or clitoral hood is something straight out of Ferres' twisted playbook.

It can be easy to criticise Ferres on several levels. The women of his adult comics all have a similar look and body measurements, so the monotony might taint your arousal with a nagging feeling of increasing boredom. The effect is not dissimular from looking at a series of Playboy centerfolds: they eventually all start to look identical and devoid of any personality. That said, as long as you actually prefer interchangeable curvy subs with gravity defying big breasts, then you're going to be in absolute heaven. More pics after the break.
Moreover, Ferres is not for the squeamish. Let me repeat that: NOT for the squeamish. His subjugated females are brutally treated by uncaring male and female sadists. There seems to be no moral compass in his universe, no heroes, and no consequence for cruelty. In real life, there's a clear line between torture and willing BDSM play - but that line doesn't exist in Ferres' comic world. The women are usually unwilling participants to extreme sexual rape and assault. To his credit, at least Ferres writes on his website that he could probably use some psychoanalysis. So at least we can be reassured that we are dealing with an artist who makes a distinction between unrestricted fantasy and an actual real world with rules of behaviour and decency.

But the undeniable fact is that his cold and demented BDSM fantasies are beatifully illustrated. The outfits in his sci-fi stories will definitely appeal to anyone with a fetish for rubber or latex. The devious creativity of his bondage racks and the medieval settings will be much appreciated by people who enjoy dungeon fantasies.

The bottom line is that Ferres effectively illustrates the dark and twisted fantasies and desires that many of us carry. The inescapable fact for me is that his comics are interesting enough to repeatedly revisit.  So I recommend the Ferres website - check it out for yourself.

  1. Oh yeah... that guy!

Yes, unfortunately his blog is actually more interesting than his comics. His device bondage creativity is OK, but I agree, there's no feeling of consequence, no 'hero's journey'.

Unfortunately we may as well be watching a play performed by hand-positioned Real Dolls, such is the connection his characters make with the viewer/reader. :(
